MONTHLY GENERAL MEETING – JULY 2026
Our next monthly General Meeting for all u3a members is on 15th July 2026 at 2pm. As usual, this will be held in St. Andrew’s Church Hall, Merton Road, Slough SL1 1QW. The small car park at the rear of the church is available for those who have difficulties with mobility and for those with equipment to transport. Otherwise, we ask you to please park in one of the pay-and-display car parks nearby, or in Upton Court Park about 10 minutes’ walk away.
We have been in touch with the Council's Parking Manger and she has very kindly agreed that
SLOUGH u3a MEMBERS will NOT need to register with RingGo during the following periods....
1:30 and 4:30 pm on:
The 3rd Wednesday of each month, i.e. the day of the group meetings and
The 3rd Monday of each Month i.e. the day of the Local History meetings.
This means that our members do not need to register your vehicles with RingGo on those days providing you are not in the car park outside of those hours.
Our guest speaker is Timothy Walker. From 1988 to 2014 Timothy was the Director of the Oxford Botanic Garden. Since 2014 he has been a Senior Lecturer and Tutor in Plant Biology at Somerville College, Oxford. He will give a presentation on “The Healing Power of Plants”. Humans have exploited the medicinal properties of plants for thousands of years, yet the role of plants in modern medicine is still considered to be peripheral by many people. Timothy’s talk attempts to put the record straight and to show that plant products are used every day by all of us to relieve pain and suffering, to heal wounds and to cure diseases.
