A quick reminder of our coach trip to Eastbourne on Friday 7th July. The coach is fully booked with a waiting list.
Coming up soon – a guided tour of Stanlake Park Wine Estate (with wine tasting) on 22nd August. We’ll circulate full details in a couple of weeks.
Monthly General Meeting – June 2023
Our next General Meetings is on Wed 21st June – we’re looking forward to a talk by Jenny Mallin titled “My Ancestors in the British Raj and their Professions”.
Jenny has prepared a detailed talk with fascinating sepia photographs, which will provide us audience with interesting facts about the history of the infrastructure of India and the various professions of her grandfathers and great grandfathers who variously worked on the Indian railways, the telegraph system, founded of one of the first English medium schools in India, and who fought in the third Anglo Mysore war. All seen through the eyes of their granddaughter.
Jenny has given talks to groups around the world; her book “A Grandmother’s Legacy” (was a memoir based upon five generations of her family in the British Ra) was awarded “Best in World Cookery Book 2017” by the Gourmand Society. She continues to enjoy giving talks to community groups as well as lecturing on cruises.
Our General Meeting starts at 2pm in St Andrew’s Church Hall in Merton Road, Slough SL1 1QW. The meeting is open to both u3a members and non-members; we always welcome guests and potential members who are interested in our talks and activities.
The small car park at the rear of the church is available for those who have difficulties with mobility. Otherwise, we ask you to please park in one of the pay-and-display car parks nearby, or in Upton Court Park (free) about 10 minutes’ walk away.

Tea and Jazz
Organised by Spelthorne K2 U3A – Tuesday 27th June at 2pm in Datchet Village Hall featuring a lovely jazz singer Fleur together with a professional guitarist and acoustic bassist. All u3a members – from any u3a branch – are welcome. There is no need to book – just turn up on the day. There is a fee of just £7 cash to pay towards the cost of the band, hall hire and refreshments. All performances start at 2pm with a break half way for tea and cakes, finish is at about 3:45pm. Free parking outside the hall and a public car park nearby.

Future dates – On 25th July we will welcome the Dixieland Swing Kings, a six man traditional jazz band: on 26th September it’s The Traditional Jazz Quartet and for 24th October we have The Woodhouse Jazz Band.
