A MESSAGE FROM THE COMMITTEE

Another year is rushing to its close and we would like to thank all of those members who work behind the scenes planning and organising activities, meetings, outings and events; providing us with sustenance; helping to prepare rooms; putting out furniture; delivering materials; clearing up etc.

We are always looking for members to help us run Slough u3a smoothly and as you know the committee regularly asks for volunteers.

Do you think, " I had enough of attending meetings and organising things when I was working, now that I'm retired, I want to relax and do things I enjoy. I wouldn’t mind helping out now and then but I don’t want to be on the committee or get involved in organising or running things and end up spending a lot of my time on u3a work.”

As already mentioned, Slough u3a is run entirely by volunteers in their own time. Maybe you have certain skills or knowledge that would be of value to us, maybe something you learned through your work and hadn’t even considered would be of any use to your fellow members or the group in general.
Perhaps someone wants to use a spreadsheet or a slideshow for a forthcoming activity and spends ages trying to set one up, not realising that you used to prepare them regularly for work and could show them how to prepare one in a matter of minutes.

It doesn’t have to be a big commitment and need not even be on a regular basis, but it would be helpful if we had a list of members willing to help or give advice, no matter how small.

Remember the old saying "Many hands make light work.”

Why not have a chat with a committee member and see if there is something you could do to make Slough u3a even better?
