Slough u3a Members enjoy, as you will have seen on our website, coming to meetings, activities and going on outings with Slough u3a.

Organising all of these things is all done voluntarily by fellow members in their own time

Have you ever thought “I wouldn’t mind helping out now and then but I don’t want to be on the committee or getting involved in running things and spending a lot of time on u3a work?”

We are always on the lookout for help, however little it may be.

Perhaps you have certain skills or knowledge that would be of value to us, maybe something you learned through your work and hadn’t even considered would be of any use to your fellow members or the group in general.


Within the u3a Groups there is occasional need for someone to cover "running" a meeting ( this may just mean being there on time to open up, or prepare materials or furniture). All u3a Groups are convened by willing volunteers but sometime they need help,

These are just a couple of examples, I'm sure others could also suggest various things. We are hoping to set up a list of members who would be willing to offer their knowledge and time, not necessarily on a regular basis or even a great deal of time.

Maybe you have admin skills, Could type documents, can you Proofread, do you have Computer skills - MS office? / Repair? / Troubleshooting?, Were you a Teacher? Librarian? Accountant? or have Legal knowledge? Do you have Website skills? or knowledge of Social Media? Do you perhaps have experience through a hobby? can you Dance, were you a Potter, or a Flower Arranger or have you been in a reading group? .
If you have ANY skills or experience please let us know - YOU DO NOT NEED TO BE AN EXPERT!.

Or maybe you just have spare time in your life?

We would be grateful if you would let us know  if you would be willing to offer any knowledge or spare time to make Slough u3a even more enjoyable to all of us.

A "Groups Coordinator" This is a relatively straightforward role that simply requires regular contact with Group Convenors and the committee.

"Assistant WebMaster" Primarily someone who can hold the second copies of passwords and documents relating to the Slough u3a website, social media, I.T. etc. Could be a bigger role for the right person.

"Poetry Group Convenor", "Creative Writing Convenor","Salsa Group Convenor" "Family History Group Convenor" and "Play Reading Convenor" If demand exists, from members to re-establish these (Currently dormant) groups we will need a convenor for each.

"General Support" The Committee would like to create a list of members with useful skills that could be called upon as required.
